Integration green sponge city concept into urban flood management and drainage system

Abstract:Flood management in rampant urbanized city requires ensuring safety and improving ecological environment. Sponge cities, as an effective measure for improving flood protection, drainage and ecological environment, have been constructed widely across China. Integration green sponge city concept into urban flood protection and drainage system improvement is extremely significant to build a human-water harmony city. In this paper, the current situation and issues of sponge city construction and flood protection as well as waterlogging drainage project are summarized, the relationship between sponge city and flood management is discussed in various aspects. The suggestions for urban flood management combined with build a sponge city are proposed.This study provides reference value to China's ongoing sponge city construction to make the city more beautiful and harmonious.
