The study of main physical distribution characteristics of quasi-flowing field in dam by mirror image method

Abstract:The quasi-flowing field method has been widely used for dam leakage detection. However, the distribution features of some main physical variables of the quasi-flowing field in dam and levee project areas are unfamiliar to researchers and engineers. Some abnormal distribution phenomenon of the quasi-flowing field still can not been well explained, or even been explained improperly. In this paper, applying mirror image method, theoretical quantities of two variables with respect to electric potential and electric field intensity in multi-layered media are obtained, and the distribution features of two variables are summarized. The results are helpful to correctly application of the quasi-flowing field method.
