Intelligent-grid drought forecasting system for Daling River Basin in Liaoning Province

Abstract:Accurate and timely drought forecast has important decision-making reference value and technical significance for grasping the overall situation of drought development, making scientific and reasonable emergency response measures for drought relief and disaster reduction, and greatly reducing food loss. In this study, SOA architecture, web front-end technology, service-oriented geographic information system and other advanced design concepts and open architecture are adopted to the drought forecasting system, which integrated a variety of climate models and distributed hydrological models. Based on the atmospheric-hydrological coupling forecasting method, a refined,modular and intelligent drought forecasting system for Daling River Basin in Liaoning Province is constructed. This paper introduces the system design idea, overall architecture, technical framework, data information flow and main functions in detail. This system can provide multiple types(weather, hydrology, agriculture) drought forecast in multi scale(next ten days and one month), and the comprehensive drought consultation and decision making. It not only extends the leading time effectively, but also improves the ability of drought forecasting. This intelligent drought forecasting system has high scalability, compatibility, high advanced and long life cycle.
