Abstract:Combined with the results of rainstorm frequency analysis, China Flash Flood hydrological model was used to analyze the flood peak discharge frequency of small catchment scale and hierarchical nested catchments in Shangliu catchment of Jiangxi Province. The results showed that: China Flash Flood hydrological model showed good applicability in study area. During the calibration and validation periods, the absolute values of relative errors of average runoff depth and peak discharge were within 12% and 7%, respectively, the absolute value of average errors of peak occurrence time were 1.1 h, and the average Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficients were 0.87 and 0.9, respectively. The average peak discharge at small catchments were 78~201 m3/s with from 5-year to 500-year return periods. The corresponding peak discharge at hierarchical nested catchments were 104~810 m3/s, 125~1 041 m3/s, 144~1 202 m3/s, 169~1 329 m3/s, 181~1 436 m3/s, 198~1 571 m3/s, 214~1 712 m3/s and 231~1 889 m3/s, respectively. The study are expected to provide technical support and reference for flood frequency analysis and spatio-temporal patterns in small and medium-sized catchments.
