Characteristics and impacts of high temperature and drought in summer in Ningxia in 2021

Abstract:In order to clarify the characteristics and impacts of persistent high temperature and drought in Summer in Ningxia in 2021, the climatic characteristics of high temperature and drought and its impacts on agriculture, ecology and urban water and electricity consumption were analyzed based on daily temperature and precipitation data of 24 meteorological stations from June 1 to August 31, 2021. The results showed that: In the summer of 2021 (June to August), the temperature in Ningxia was abnormally high, with a large number of high temperature days and a wide range; The number of days without precipitation is abnormally high, and the precipitation continues to be abnormally low; The continuous abnormal low precipitation and high temperature are the important reasons for Ningxia to suffer from severe drought in the summer of 2021. The meteorological drought began to increase gradually in the middle of June, and by August 15, the meteorological drought in most areas of the region reached the severe to extremely severe level. In view of the high temperature and drought, the paper puts forward suggestions to make up for weaknesses, strengthen the foundation and improve the comprehensive ability of drought resistance and disaster reduction, providing reference for drought prediction, monitoring, early warning and prevention.
