Abstract:
Drought frequency and the impact of drought disasters are significantly increasing under the background of global climate change. Efficient and accurate drought monitoring and assessment of drought situation that is proactive rather than reactive, as a crisis early warning, are beneficial to take effective and timely measures which can suspend the further development of drought severity and minimize the loss. Aiming at the key problems of drought monitoring and evaluation, such as "where, how much, how long and how to deal with", this study constructed the key technology of drought comprehensive monitoring and evaluation by integrating the multi-source data of "air, sky and surface observation". The research team's technical innovation and related application situation in the comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of drought situation are introduced from the aspects of major technical principle, function and advancement, main application fields, implementation effects and benefits. The follow-up research will meet the new needs of intellectual drought mitigation in the new era and gradually improve the technical level of drought monitoring and early warning and further popularize it.
