Abstract
Before the flood season in 2023, the Yellow River Conservancy Commission jointly dispatched Wanjiazhai, Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi reservoirs on the main stream, Luhun, Guxian and Hekoucun reservoirs on the tributaries of Yellow River to implement pre-flood water and sediment regulation. In the process of water and sediment regulation, efforts had been made to refine and optimize the regulation of Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi reservoirs. The water level, inflow and outflow, and outflow sediment concentration of the Xiaolangdi reservoir had been carefully controlled, and measures such as increasing the inflow of clean water from tributary reservoirs had been taken to control the sediment concentration of the downstream river within a reasonable range. The impact of high sediment content floods on aquatic organisms and their habitats had been minimized, while avoiding excessive flood peak appreciation and ensuring the safety and controllability of water and sediment regulation, and all the goals set in the contingency plan were completed.
