Ice regime characteristic and analysis for the lower reach of the Yellow River in 2017-2018

Abstract:The temperature of the lower reach of the Yellow River in 2017-2018 was obviously high,and there were two ice floating processes. The first ice floating process was significantly later than usual. During the ice period,the main river channel had a good flow capacity because of the relatively slow wind speed in the estuary. In addition,the thickness of the ice was relatively thin,and there was no section closure river under the condition of continuous low temperature. With the close cooperation and concerted efforts of all departments, through the establishment of a real-time remote monitoring system and federation merchant system and frequency of meetings during the key period of ice floating, Xiaolangdi Reservoir was properly intervened,and timely measures were taken to remove the pontoon bridge to ensure the smoothness of the flood season in the lower reach of Yellow River.
