Abstract:Based on the daily precipitation and temperature data of China's surface meteorological observation stations from 1961 to 2022,the study analyzed in detail the climate characteristics of temperature and precipitation in the Yangtze River basin since July 2022,made statistical analysis using the meteorological drought comprehensive index and regional drought process,and compared with the historical serious summer drought events.The results showed that the summer drought in the Yangtze River basin since July 2022 has lasted for a long time,affected a vast area,and caused serious damage.The drought event in summer 2022 is the worst summer drought in the Yangtze River basin since 1961,which is second only to 2011.Considering that the drought in the Yangtze River basin in 2022 has sustained till now,and the delayed effect of the drought disaster and its impact may be further intensified.
